Snowy Day!

I woke up around 4:30 and decided it was too early to "rise and shine." I stayed in bed another hour then crawled out of bed around 5:30AM. I typically get up around 5AM so I felt like I had gotten an 1/2 hour extra sleep. YAHOO I knew we were to get snow during the night ( a couple inches) so I thought I'd peek outside. Immediately I knew we had gotten more than a few inches and was fairly convinced there would be no school. Within a few min. my cell phone rang with the news that school was canceled. What fun!! That would mean four less hours of work with no bus route however, I still have two cleaning jobs that needed to get worked in as well as trying to figure out what Kristian will do while I leave. hum......what's fun for most is an instant headache for some...So I decided to not worry about it and made my coffee. =) After sipping down a few cups of coffee, then hearing we had about 5 inches yet to come, I decided I should get at the pile already out there. I bundled up and ventured out with walkie talkie, (in case Kristian would wake up and need me) and my handy dandy camera. =) I took several pics of the street and began to shovel away the snow. The mail man typically drudges through the snow from Milly's house to our house so I cleared him a path. It's amazing how quiet it was outside. (Since it was about 6:3oAM I was nearly the only one out.) The snow was sticking to the trees and wires. There was no wind so it simply stayed wherever it landed. Very beautiful!! There were some sounds interrupting my morning shoveling experience. The sound of sirens in the distance lasted about 10 min. Finally, I seen them head toward the hospital. Also, oddly enough there was the sound of a bird singing. After digging out I decided to look at my dead car sitting in the garage. I went to drive it yesterday and nothing. I was much to busy to mess with it but today seemed like the perfect time to jump it and take it to get a new battery. After letting the van run a while to charge the car battery I decided to give it a try. It started...yeah!! I shoveled more snow then came in before leaving for WM, I had get Kristian up, take Kristian potty and get him fed then go to WM to get a new battery. Well, at some point while I was inside it quit running and after about two hours of trying again I decided to call a tow truck. Amazingly enough Kristian my little snoozy bear slept the whole time I was outside. I finally came in after 8AM and he was still sawing logs. That was a bit more than 12 hours of sleep. WOW, wouldn't ya love that!!! Well, enjoy the snowfall pictures and if your blessed enough to not have to live in such parts of the world say a prayer of thanksgiving. If you'd like to be part of this nonsense please don't hesitate to call and I'll clean out the spare room for you. =) Happy Day!! One positive thing the snow does is make my junk pile nearly disappear and the dirt not look so dirty. Can't wait until spring and we can get the junk out of here and get the rest of the grading done and the yard seeded. Ok...I'm out of here for now...=)

Not sure who all will be able to view these but this was of Kristian trying to blow out his candles on his b-day cake. If you listen closely you'll hear comments of this being the kids cake and the one not pictured would be a good one for the adults. We had about 30 guests at his party so I had made two cakes. One choc. and one (white bread) as Kristian calls it!! LOL (Let me know if you can see this.)

Still puttering around here. Brian got up the ceiling fan in the LR and I got the trim around the doors and windows done and the blinds hung. Now I need to do the base trim. I got camera crazy and took lots of pic. of Kristian while he was looking like an angel. I'll share only one with you. =) So today he said "hey let me take your picture," as I was helping him with homework so turn about is fair play. Here I am with my cute reading glasses! LOL (anyone laughing that isn't in their 40s just wait and you too can have some) LOL

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!! Here are a few of the things I received today. Kristian's gave me a little box of candies and a note...awwww...then I got beautiful flowers (Thanks, they are beautiful!!) We all probably have seen the Papa Murphy's commercial with the heart shaped pizza. I said to Kristian, "now who would want a heart shaped pizza that's silly," he said, "I would." So for dinner I made him a heart shaped pizza. LOL As far as the house we are on hold until the cabinets come in and get set, the duct work run to the LR and then the carpet. Oh we still have electrical stuff to do. Not that I know anything about that but it needs done!! LOL I (I help where I can) =) Have a great day everyone!!

Today I worked on caulking and got the study wall primed and painted. Here you can see the two file cabinets that will be on each end of Kristian's desktop. Time to give Kristian a hair cut and bath! =) It's like -20 here today with the wind chill factor. BRRR.......

It's been a little while since I've posted but there has been a little work happening. (the carpet is in but we are waiting for the cabinets to get in and set & the duct work needs run to that room) I have been caulking all the trim around doors, windows and floors. Accidentally grabbed the caulk gun that had a partial tube of non-paintable caulk and had to go back and take it all off. You'll see mom and Michelle doing that here. Also, we had both bar lights up but one was bent so I took it down and returned it. After hanging the clocks I decided a track light would look much better so hung a new light there. If you scroll down you can see a pic. during the b-day party with the other light. When I told my mom I hung a new light she asked if it worked. (She don't trust my electrical talents I guess...LOL (imagine that!!) Praise God it did work otherwise I would have taken it down and know one would have known any different. =) The ceiling fan has several switches so we' re checking wires to see which are the fans. Brian then started to hang the fan and ya know how it goes when you're up on a ladder. Anything that can slip out of your hands does and here we are looking for a washer. LOL We've all been there huh!! It was found eventually. Dad worked on the ceiling fan blades. Then Brian, Michelle and dad were checking all the wiring again after Brian had done his magic. I kept hearing beeping so that a good sign right?! !? LOL More later.....
